QUEENS - In what may already be the most chaotic storyline of Opening Day, a report from TMZ has sent shockwaves through both clubhouses and timelines alike: social media influencer Livvy Dunne was allegedly seen Snapchatting New York Mest third baseman Brent Baty during the game—just moments after he ripped a go-ahead three-run triple off her boyfriend, Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes.

Yes, that actually happened.

According to multiple fans sitting behind home plate scrolling aggressively, Dunne appeared to be smiling and typing on her phone immediately after Baty cleared the bases in the bottom of the first inning, turning a 2-1 Pirates lead into a 4-2 Mest advantage. The Mest would never look back, cruising to an 11-7 win while Skenes was ultimately charged with the loss.

And just like that, baseball has its first scandal of the 2026 season.

Livvy Dunne reportedly Snapchatted Red Sox star Roman Anthony after he homered off Paul Skenes last season.

A Pattern Emerges?

While this may seem shocking on the surface, longtime Fax Sports readers know this isn’t Dunne’s first “on-field scouting” situation.

Sources indicate Dunne has a documented history of showing interest in players who perform well against Skenes in live game action. Previous alleged entanglements include:

  • Milwaukee Brewers flamethrower Jacob “The Miz” Misiorowski

  • Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Kyle Tucker

  • Boston Red Sox rising star Roman Anthony

  • Colorado Rockies outfielder Jordan Beck

At this point, some around the league are beginning to wonder if dominant performances against Skenes come with… additional incentives.

Reactions From All Parties

Dunne addressed the situation briefly in a statement posted to her Instagram story late Thursday night:

“I support Paul. I was just congratulating Brent on a great baseball play. I love baseball. I love triples. People are reading way too much into this.”

Baty, who finished the day 1-for-5 with 3 RBIs and one potential new girlfriend, seemed unbothered postgame:

“I was just trying to help the team win. If my phone was buzzing, I didn’t notice. I keep my focus between the lines… mostly.”

Meanwhile, Skenes—who allowed five runs in the first inning and visibly paced the dugout between innings—offered a noticeably measured response:

“It’s baseball. Guys are gonna hit good pitches. As for everything else… I’m focused on getting ready for my next start.”

Mest Take Advantage

Lost in the drama is the fact that the New York Mest capitalized early and often. Baty’s triple set the tone for a lineup that piled on 11 runs, exposing the Pirates’ pitching depth and spoiling Skenes’ Opening Day start.

Still, the box score may not be what fans remember most.

The Bigger Question

Is this coincidence… or a trend?

Opposing hitters now have a new layer of motivation when stepping into the box against Skenes. And with Dunne’s track record raising eyebrows across the league, it’s fair to ask:

Is Brent Baty the latest addition to a growing list—or just the hottest bat of Opening Day?

Either way, one thing is clear:

The Mest got the win.

Skenes took the loss.

And somewhere, a Snapchat notification may have changed everything.

Note: Livvy Dunne did not Snapchat Brent Baty and has no history of Snapchatting MLB players who play well against her boyfriend, as far as we know.
