NEW YORK, NY - In a bold statement following his recent signing of a minor league deal with the New York Yankees, pitcher Tyler Matzek didn't shy away from his past successes against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Matzek, who played a pivotal role in the Atlanta Braves' 2021 National League Championship Series victory over LA, expressed his confidence with a Star Wars analogy, stating, "They can act like the Evil Empire all they want, but much like Vader to Luke... I'm their father."

Matzek's performance in the series clinching Game 6 was nothing short of historic. According to Statfax, he struck out an MLB and postseason record of 57 Dodgers with runners in scoring position and no outs. His dominance didn't stop there; in that same game, Matzek struck out Mookie Betts an astonishing 6 times, including back-to-back plate appearances, showcasing his ability to shut down one of the league's top hitters.

He even reached 103 mph on 56 of the 57 strikeouts, which was also an MLB record.

This signing has injected a new level of confidence into the Yankees' locker room. The players are now more optimistic about their chances should they face the Dodgers again, particularly in a high-stakes scenario like the 2025 World Finals. Matzek's proven track record against LA, especially his performance in the 2021 NLCS, gives the Yankees a psychological edge.

"I'm a lot less stressed about my defense now," a relieved Aaron Judge said. "Matzek is so good, we could load the bases from errors and still get out of a jam."

We can only imagine the excitement in the air as the Yankees look forward to potentially facing off against the Dodgers with Matzek in their bullpen. His history of "owning" LA, as he humorously puts it, might just be the edge they need in future matchups.

Note: Tyler Matzek did not actually say this, as far as we know.
