On a calm, unsuspecting day, Instagram’s algorithm made the ultimate call: ban @mlbonfax. No warning. No specifics. Just a cold, lifeless “You violated community guidelines” message — like a breakup text written by a Roomba.

While we await a formal apology, a reinstatement, and possibly a statue in our honor, we’ve compiled the most likely reasons Instagram decided to de-platform the fax.

1. Called the Mets “The Mest” one too many times

Apparently “Mest” has now been classified as hate speech under Section 8.3.2 of the Internet’s Emotional Protection Act. The Mets may not win rings, but they win sympathy reports.

2. Posted a picture of Barry Bonds with a suspicious syringe

AI flagged it for promoting drug use. We were just reporting on what everyone already knew. If parody’s illegal, lock up SNL next.

3. Mistakenly labeled as actual MLB news

Our fake Shohei Ohtani gambling reports got more engagement than ESPN’s real updates. That’s on the people — not us. (OK, maybe us a little.)

4. Didn’t include a trigger warning before making fun of Jeff Passan’s height

We simply wished him a Happy Father’s Day and gifted him a step stool. Apparently Instagram doesn’t allow short-form content anymore.

5. Posted a graphic of Juan Soto in a Yankees uniform

Instagram classified this as “graphic violence.” The trauma caused to Padres fans was deemed irreversible.

6. AI mistook our 'On The Move' trade graphics as real

Someone thought we were impersonating ESPN. Honestly, that’s a compliment — if ESPN had the guts to post that Jarren Duran was traded to the Padres mid-game.

7. Commented too many times on Mark Zuckerberg's posts saying we're uninstalling Threads

And we’d say it again. Unfortunately, Zuckerberg called it “defamatory to the Threads reputation.”

8. Our “MLB Horoscope” series predicted Rob Manfred is a Gemini

Instagram cited “astrological misinformation and character defamation.” MLB denied the claim but didn’t offer his real sign. Suspicious behavior.

9. Said that Grimace saved the Mest’s season

Flagged for “false idol worship.” We were only documenting history. McDonald’s refused to comment, but Ronald McDonald was seen nodding solemnly in agreement.

10. My Dodger fan neighbor reported me out of spite

He saw me post a meme of Clayton Kershaw cradling Oracle Park like his newborn and immediately called it “targeted harassment.” He still brings up Game 6 of the 2021 NLCS like it’s a personal trauma.

11. Instagram simply couldn’t handle this much fax

At the end of the day, the platform was overwhelmed by our ratio power. The truth hurts — especially when it comes with engagement.

Conclusion

Was justice served? No. Was it hilarious? Also no. But we will rise again. Until then, we encourage all parody accounts, fax pages, and meme soldiers to hold the line. The war on content has begun — and @mlbonfax will be remembered as a casualty of truth.
