Another week, another major shakeup in the race to the 2026 Cancun Playoffs. Remember: in these rankings, losing is winning. Stack defeats, collapse in dramatic fashion, create clubhouse dysfunction — that’s how you climb toward Cancun glory.

And right now? Several franchises are beginning to separate themselves from the pack.

Top 10 — Cancun Elite

1. North Japan Samurai (67–0, NPB)

At this point, they’ve transcended baseball entirely. The defending Cancun champions improved to 67-0, with Tony Ohtani reportedly hitting three home runs in a single inning this week while Lil’ Moto continues terrorizing opposing hitters. They remain the only organization capable of dominating and improving their Cancun status simultaneously.

2. New York Mest (15–25)

The Mest remain fully committed to the process. A perfectly mediocre 5–5 stretch somehow felt worse than the record suggests, which is honestly impressive. Every week that Carlos Mendoza remains employed only strengthens this team’s Cancun identity.

3. Houston Astros (16–25)

Up two spots after another excellent Cancun week. The Astros rose in the rankings mostly due to Carlos Correa being ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a torn tendon in his left ankle during batting practice last week. The pitching staff still appears to be held together with duct tape and optimism, and now the offense may be headed in the same direction. This team is peaking at the right time.

4. San Francisco Giants (16–24)

Another 3–7 week has the Giants surging. They’re finally embracing the full Cancun lifestyle: weak offense, late bullpen collapses, and absolutely no momentum whatsoever.

5. Boston Red Sox (17–23)

The Chad Sox era is officially underway. New manager Chad Tracy takes over a team that continues to find new and exciting ways to lose baseball games. Boston slid slightly after accidentally winning a few games, but the overall Cancun trajectory remains extremely promising.

6. Los Angeles Angels (16–25)

Dropped two spots despite still being one of the worst teams in baseball. That’s what happens when other clubs start out-tanking you. Still, a 4–6 stretch keeps them firmly in contention.

7. Baltimore Orioles (18–23)

No movement this week, which honestly feels fitting. The Orioles remain committed to inconsistency, though the franchise did score a massive off-field win with overwhelming fan reaction to its recent Tupac bobblehead giveaway, which reportedly created some of the largest merchandise lines Camden Yards has seen in years.

8. Toronto Blue Jays (18–22)

The Blue Jays are heating up at exactly the right time — and by heating up, we mean losing. A 4–6 stretch combined with continued AL East misery pushed them up two spots. And while Toronto remains firmly in the top 10, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is doing everything he can to keep them there, hitting just 2 home runs so far this season.

9. Detroit Tigers (19–22)

The Tigers surged up 11 spots mostly due to ace Tarik Skubal undergoing elbow surgery last week to remove loose bodies from his left elbow. Initially, a 2–3 month recovery timeline was expected, but agent Scott Boras has already suggested a much faster return — potentially by June. That possibility has Tigers fans nervous, because a healthy Skubal could completely derail Detroit’s Cancun chances.

10. Los Angeles Dodgers (24–16)

Biggest risers of the week. The Dodgers skyrocketed up 21 spots after losing 2 of 3 to the Braves at home this weekend while being outscored 15–7. For the first time all season, this team looks vulnerable.

A huge reason why? The stars simply haven’t produced. Shohei Ohtani is hitting just .241 with 6 HR and 16 RBI, while Freddie Freeman is batting only .267 with 4 HR and 20 RBI — exactly the kind of underperformance that can launch a team into serious Cancun contention.

And then there’s Blake Snell, who gave up 5 runs in 3 innings against Atlanta in his season debut on Saturday — his bobblehead day, nonetheless. Early signs suggest Snell is already in midseason Cancun form.

The Rest of the Field

11. Portland Pickles (0–0)

Still inactive, still dangerous. Sources say Dillon T. Pickle launched a baseball completely through the roof of the Cancun Dome during workouts this week.

12. Seattle Mariners (19–22)

They continue hovering around relevance. The offense remains inconsistent, and this team feels one bad losing streak away from the top 10. Carl Raleigh (0 for his last 32) is doing everything he can to keep the Mariners near the top.

13. Colorado Rockies (16–25)

A disappointing 2–8 stretch should have pushed them higher, but other teams simply outperformed them in the Cancun department.

14. Minnesota Twins (18–23)

Still hanging around after another uninspiring week. Not enough losing urgency.

15. Kansas City Royals (19–22)

A dangerous 7–3 stretch knocked them down. Winning games at this stage is incredibly risky.

16. Chicago White Sox (19–21)

They’re stuck in the middle. Too competent to rise, too flawed to compete.

17. Washington Nationals (19–22)

Still drifting. A perfectly average Cancun team.

18. Miami Marlins (19–22)

Same story as the Nationals — enough losses to stay relevant, not enough chaos to move up.

19. Texas Rangers (19–21)

Hovering around .500 baseball is one of the worst things you can do for your Cancun chances.

20. Arizona Diamondbacks (19–20)

Another 3–7 week helps, but the Diamondbacks still have too much accidental competence.

21. Philadelphia Phillies (19–22)

A tough drop. After looking like elite Cancun material a few weeks ago, they’ve stabilized too much. We blame Don Mattingly.

22. Cleveland Guardians (21–21)

Exactly .500. Exactly mediocre. Exactly stuck.

23. Cincinnati Reds (22–19)

A brutal 2–8 stretch finally pushed them back toward relevance after weeks of dangerous winning.

24. TBD Athletics (21–19)

Still leading the AL West, which continues to destroy their Cancun credibility.

25. Pittsburgh Pirates (22–19)

Winning baseball games remains their biggest issue.

26. St. Louis Cardinals (23–17)

Still far too functional to be taken seriously in the Cancun race.

27. Milwaukee Brewers (22–16)

Another team whose competence is becoming a major problem.

28. San Diego Padres (24–16)

The Padres remain one of baseball’s biggest Cancun disappointments. Too talented, too consistent, too successful.

29. Tampa Bay Rays (26–13)

Best record in the American League and absolutely nowhere near Cancun form.

30. New York Yankees (26–15)

Still refusing to commit. Until the Yankees start losing consistently, this ranking won’t improve.

31. Chicago Cubs (27–14)

Winning eight of their last 10 completely tanked their Cancun momentum. They’re becoming one of the least serious contenders in the field.

32. Atlanta Braves (28–13)

The Braves remain dead last. Too dominant, too complete, too competent. Until they embrace adversity, Cancun remains a fantasy. Thanks, Marc Olsen.

Final Thoughts

The Cancun field is starting to take shape. The Mest remain committed veterans of the process. The Astros and Giants are surging. And somehow, unbelievably, the Dodgers have entered the conversation.

Meanwhile, elite MLB teams like the Braves, Cubs, Yankees, and Rays continue sabotaging their own Cancun dreams by winning baseball games.
