LOS ANGELES - In what may be the most Los Angeles move of all time, the Dodgers have officially signed BTS frontman V to a three-year, $21 million contract after his dazzling first pitch Monday night against the Reds. The K-Pop superstar looked so athletic on the Dodger Stadium mound that GM Brandon Gomes couldn’t help but slide the offer across the table before the seventh-inning stretch.

The deal, first reported by Dodgers reporter Kristen Watson, includes a $3 million signing bonus plus performance incentives for All-Star nods, MVP votes, and strikeout milestones. V, whose real name is Kim Taehyung, becomes the first member of a K-Pop group to sign with an MLB team, as far as we know.

Dave Roberts’ Reaction

Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts could barely hide his excitement.

“This kid’s got presence, he’s got swagger, and he’s got a left arm you just don’t see every day. We’re putting him in the bullpen right away. You can never have too many lefties,” Roberts told reporters postgame.

V on Ohtani, Pitching… and Gambling

For his part, V is already embracing Dodger Blue and the grind of a new sport:

“Shohei Ohtani is my idol. I can’t wait to learn pitching — and gambling — from him. I think he’s the perfect teacher,” V said with a grin, referencing Ohtani’s own rollercoaster saga with betting headlines.

Projected Stats for V, 2025 Season

Official projection for V as a rookie lefty reliever, per Statfax:

  • Games: 24

  • Innings: 18.2

  • ERA: 1.02

  • Strikeouts: 39

  • Walks: 1 (intentional, to Marc Olsen)

  • Playoffs: 12 scoreless innings, 4 holds, 1 heroic save in the NLCS

Why a Boy Band Background = Bullpen Domination

Think about it: BTS has sold out stadiums worldwide, survived grueling dance practices, 3-hour setlists, and a level of pressure most MLB closers will never know. If V can handle ARMY expectations, he can handle a bases-loaded jam in the 8th inning at Chavez Ravine. Timing? Perfected through choreography. Stamina? Built through worldwide tours. Crowd control? Second nature. Late-inning chaos? Just another arena encore.

V doesn’t just bring pitches — he brings performance.

Who’s Next?

The signing also raises the question: which other musicians could make the jump to MLB?

  • Bad Bunny to the Mest: Queens could use a DH who can actually perform under the lights.

  • Drake to the Blue Jays: Imagine a 6th-inning mound visit where he drops an unreleased verse instead of strategy.

  • Taylor Swift to the Cardinals: They love midwestern drama, and she’s got more endurance than any long reliever in baseball.

  • Post Malone to the Rockies: Mile High bullpen vibes + Fax Light sponsorship synergy.

The Fax Sports Take

Baseball purists will hate this. Dodgers fans will buy out every V jersey by tomorrow morning. And somewhere in Seoul, an entire BTS fanbase just picked up MLB.TV subscriptions.

Whether V racks up strikeouts or just sells out the merch stand, one thing’s certain: the Dodgers have once again changed the game.
